SCAMPER?

Start by exploring existing water vehicles such as sailboats and submarines. Then use the SCAMPER method to reimagine them through questions.

Technique SCAMPER Question Example
Substitute What could we use instead of a sail?
Combine Can we merge the hull and the mast?
Adapt If the wind is weak, how might the sail change?
Modify / Minify / Magnify Can we resize the sail?
Put to Other Uses: What if the sailboat could also fly?
Eliminate / Elaborate: Without a mast, how would we hold up the sail?
Reverse: What would happen if the rudder were in the air?

Next, try to answer the questions, design your own one-of-a-kind watercraft, and experiment with building workable prototypes!
